There's not much what really prevents Mac Spectacle from running, but some applications, inits etc. have side effects which reduce the fun playing games on Mac Spectacle.
Screen depth of 8, 16 or 32 bit is recommended. In 1, 2 and 4 bit mode the screen is displayed in black&white only. The emulator speed is always a little bit slower on 2 or 4 bit screens.
If the ZX Spewctrum window is partially covered or not completely within the screen, the emulation is slowed down significantly.
Quit other applications/inits etc., which proof to do no fast and smooth background processing. Known programs are:
o About (replacement for the standard "about this Macintosh" by Michael Hecht)
o Desktop strips
o LocalTalk (EtherTalk is mostly ok)
o File sharing (disconnect other clients from your your Mac)
o Print Monitor (don't print in background while playing arcade games...)
o SimpleText (oh no ...)
o Monitors control panel
None of these programs really hurt, but the emulation will become slower, jerky and especially sound won't be no fun.
